Nucleic Acid Components and Their Analogues: New Synthesis of Bicyclic Thiopyrimidine Nucleosides

A novel synthesis of condensed bicyclic thiopyrimidine glycosides utilising 1H-cyclopentapyrimidine-2(3H)-thiones and α-bromoglucose or α-bromogalactose tetraacetate as starting components is described.
