Figures in our worlds: a response to articles by Hernandez-Martinez et al. and Williams

Wenger comments on Hernandez-Martinez et al and Williams articles. Learning is a process of identity formation, and conversely, identity formation is a process of learning. In line with this idea, both articles present the notion of identity, not merely as a positioning of oneself with respect to a system of categories, but as the negotiation of a trajectory over time and through social space.
