Zusammenfassung: | An analysis is presented of the behaviour of dielectric and metal samples placed within specified electromagnetic fields. This is conducted in terms of the frequency dependence of the electrical output of a wire loop surrounding the sample. It is shown that it is possible, under certain conditions defined by sample geometry and field configuration, to measure both the electrical parameters and physical dimensions of the sample. This provides more information than is generally available using some of the more conventional techniques of electrical measurements. The analysis is conducted for samples in the form of long cylindrical rods since this is the case most amenable to mathematical formulation. For the case of metal samples, an analysis is also presented for a long bar of rectangular cross-section and a long cylindrical tube. Experimental results are presented for a variety of metal samples, including short samples for which the analytical method employed is inadequate. In general, good agreement is obtained between theoretical predictions and experimental results. |
