A Photomultiplier Shutter: a System to Increase Dynamic Range
The following is a description of a photomultiplier shutter designed to sense the amount of light impinging on a photomultiplier, to protect it from excessive light levels, and to extend its dynamic range by 10 6 by introducing specific values of optical attenuation.
