Zusammenfassung: | This article combines the roles of fantasy, symbolism, ritualism, and compulsion as they intertwine into a mind-set for victimization. This information was obtained in interviews and correspondences from serial killers. Because most, although not all, serial killers murder for sexual reasons, the sexual components of the victimization process were examined. From this unique intermingling of parts emerges a synergism of predation that most people equate with relationships, romance, and love. With the sequential offender, however, this arrangement of parts accounts for a lifetime of fatal victimization. The role of the victim is also examined. This article in no way excuses the predator for violence; it only explains that some victims play a role in their own victimization by behavior, awareness, or relationship. |
