Zusammenfassung: | A method to improve the speed of air--plasma cutting of Cu and its alloys by increasing the heat evolution during curing is described. The addition of propane--butane into the arc is necessary because the heat of formation of copper oxides is only 165 kJ/mol vs. 553 kJ/mol for iron oxides.
