Zusammenfassung:A real understanding of broadcasting law and regulation requires, among other things, a facility with legal resources. This issue of the Journal offers two detailed and related articles which describe use of the legal research resource related to broadcasting. In this first discussion. Dr. Don R. Le Duc applies his combined legal and communications background to explaining in broad outline what he terms an untapped treasure trove of research material abandoned by the legal profession pursuing current cases, and left to academics for whatever historical, legal, and policy findings can be derived from them. Le Duc breaks his subject into four related steps required of any successful researcher using legal materials and relates specific broadcast law examples for each. Dr. Le Duc is presently associate professor of speech at the Ohio State University. After earning his J.D. and Ph.D. degrees, Le Duc taught two years at the University of Maryland. He takes up his new duties as associate professor of communication arts at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in September of 1973.
