Zusammenfassung:This paper presents experiments and calculations of the linear induction motor (LIM) with a ferromagnetic secondary. The experiments have been made by use of a rotary type test facility ; the maximum power is 300kW. The calculations are given by the new theory derived considering the end effect and the magnetic saturation. This theory is simple and thus useful for study of saturation operation. We present the results of two kinds ef LIMs, an iron secondary LIM and an aluminum clad iron secondary LIM. The calculations agree with the experiments. The performance of the iron secondary LIM is considerably influenced by the magnetic saturation and that of the aluminum clad iron secondary LIM is degraded by the end effect.
