Studies on Coordinating Behaviour of Poly[(2-Hydroxy- −4-methoxyphenyl Ethanoneoxime)-3,5-diyl-1,3-dimethylene-thiourea]

A series of six-coordinated polymeric chelates of the type [ML 2 ] n , where M = Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Mn(II) or Zn(II) and L = poly[(2-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl ethanoneoxime)-3, 5-diyl-1, 3-dimethylenethiourea] has been synthesised. The diffuse reflectance spectra and magnetic moments of the polychelates show a distorted octahedral structure. Infrared spectral studies show that the metals are coordinated through the nitrogens of oxime and thioamide groups and the oxygen of the phenolic group. The thermal stabilities of coordinated polymer were determined by thermogravimetry. Antimicrobial activities of the polymer and its polychelates were also studied. Referee I: S. Yamada Referee II: K.
