Regioselective One Pot Syntheses of Cyanodeoxy Sugars

A rapid high yielding regioselective approach to cyanodeoxy sugars (5-8) has been developed by way of trans diaxial cleavage of the oxirane ring in 2,3-anhydrosugars (1-4) with cyanotrimethylsilane using aluminium chloride as catalyst.
