Zusammenfassung: | The article reports a survey of research carried out and tests available in connection with the mental testing of Welsh-speaking children. The need to restandardize fully both verbal and non-verbal tests, during adaptation into Welsh or another language, is discussed and emphasized. Among the problems discussed are the difficulties of translating verbal test items and instructions, the bearing of bilinguality on test responses and their evaluation, and the linguistic content of supposedly non-verbal tests. |
