Zusammenfassung:A flow injection method is described for the determination of low levels of nitrite ion in cell culture solutions. Nitrite-containing solutions are injected into a flowing stream containing phosphoric acid and iodide ion, which reduces nitrite to nitric oxide. The solution is directed through a microporous tube out of which nitric oxide gas diffuses for detection by chemiluminescence. The method has been applied to analysis of nitrite generated by cultured bovine pulmonary artery endothelial cells and human neutrophils.
