Identification of gibberellins in developing wheat grain [Triticum aestivum]

The known gibberellins A 15 , A 17 , A 19 , A 20 , A 24 , A 25 (tentative), and GA 44 , and indole-3-acetic acid have been identified in developing wheat grain by GC-MS. In addition five putative new gibberellins were detected. Two of them, GA 54 and GA 55 , have since been established by direct com...

Zusammenfassung:The known gibberellins A 15 , A 17 , A 19 , A 20 , A 24 , A 25 (tentative), and GA 44 , and indole-3-acetic acid have been identified in developing wheat grain by GC-MS. In addition five putative new gibberellins were detected. Two of them, GA 54 and GA 55 , have since been established by direct comparison with synthetic specimens, supplied by Professor N. Takahashi. An alternative synthesis of GA 55 methyl ester is described.
