Zusammenfassung:Ellipsoidal BGK model (ES-BGK) is a generalized version of the original BGK model designed to reproduce the physically correct Prandtl number in the Navier-Stokes limit. In this paper, we study the Cauchy problem for the ES-BGK model under the condition of finite initial mass, energy, and entropy. Equivalence type estimates for the temperature tensor are crucially used.
