Observation of highly vibrationally excited O2 resulting from the reaction of O(1D2) with O3
High resolution LIF studies of O2(X 3Σ−g) following the reaction of O(1D2) with O3 have been achieved using the (0,ν″)B 3Σ−u←X 3Σ−g Schumann–Runge transitions. Signals arising from ν″=14–16 and 18–22 have been observed and an approximate population ratio of P(18)/P(16)=2.2 obtained. The temporal pro...

Zusammenfassung: | High resolution LIF studies of O2(X 3Σ−g) following the reaction of O(1D2) with O3 have been achieved using the (0,ν″)B 3Σ−u←X 3Σ−g Schumann–Runge transitions. Signals arising from ν″=14–16 and 18–22 have been observed and an approximate population ratio of P(18)/P(16)=2.2 obtained. The temporal profiles at various ozone concentrations firmly establish that the detected O†2 results frm the subject reaction, not from initial photolysis of O3. |
