Zusammenfassung:The ESR spectrum of a paramagnetic defect produced in solid KClO4 by x irradiation at 26 K is attributed to the radical ClO since the magnetic hyperfine tensor and the nuclear quadrupole tensor of the defect are both satisfactorily accounted for in terms of the hyperfine and quadrupole constants of gaseous ClO combined with a crystal-field representation of the influence of the solid matrix.
