Zusammenfassung:The transition mechanism from the initiation of a corona discharge to a glow discharge is morphologically shown in the atmosphere with 1-mm narrow-gap spacing. The anode glow spreads out widely on the anode surface, similar to that of a low-pressure glow discharge, and changes into a positive column after spark-over. A dc component of the discharge current appears when the anode glow occurs.
