Zusammenfassung:The construction and performance of a simple, reliable threshold gas Čerenkov counter is described. When the discrimination level is well below one photoelectron, the counter efficiency rises from 0.1 to 0.9 for a change in particle velocity of Δβ=0.0006. The counter has been very useful in setting up and monitoring a separated beam used with the Brookhaven 80‐in. bubble chamber.
