Zusammenfassung: | Gas-phase shielding values for the protons in the hydrides of S, Se, and Te have been determined. Temperature-dependence measurements have been made on the chemical shifts of the protons of these hydrides in the liquid state. Various aspects of the data indicate that, unlike water, these liquid-phase chemical shifts are primarily the result of dispersion interactions. Problems in relating theoretically derived values for the dispersion contribution to the liquid-phase chemical shift to the experimental data are considered briefly. |
