Three-Body Association Reactions of NO+ with O2, N2, and CO2

The association of NO+ with CO2, NO++CO2+He→NO+·CO2+He, is found to occur with a rate constant 1 × 10−29 cm6 sec−1 at 197°K, decreasing at higher temperatures. When N2 or Ar are used as the third body the rate constant is about 3 times larger. The association of NO+ with O2 and N2 was found to be ve...

Zusammenfassung:The association of NO+ with CO2, NO++CO2+He→NO+·CO2+He, is found to occur with a rate constant 1 × 10−29 cm6 sec−1 at 197°K, decreasing at higher temperatures. When N2 or Ar are used as the third body the rate constant is about 3 times larger. The association of NO+ with O2 and N2 was found to be very much less efficient. It was found that NO+·CO2 reacts rapidly with NO to produce NO+·NO, with H2O to produce NO+·H2O, and with NH3 to produce NO+·NH3. It was found that N4+ charge transfers rapidly with O2, and N3+ reacts with O2 to produce NO+, O2+, and NO2+.
