Zusammenfassung: | Measurements of the thermal-diffusion factor for Ne–Ar and Ne–Xe systems are reported at about 45°C as a function of composition. These were obtained on an eight-tube glass trennschaukel with the two ends maintained at 0° and 100°C. Certain previously drawn conclusions for the efficient design and operation of a trennschaukel are confirmed. The new data are compared with the existing one and also interpreted on the basis of the Chapman–Enskog kinetic theory and modified Buckingham exp-6 intermolecular potential. In general, the agreement between the new measured values and the other existing data is good. Independent measurements taken on a two-bulb apparatus and under similar experimental conditions also confirm the trennschaukel results. The theory is in approximate agreement with the experiments over the whole range of composition of the binary mixtures. |
