Zusammenfassung: | The experimental results of a study on a laser ion source are presented in this report. A gain of about five in the total peak current and an enhanced relative amount of higher charge states were observed when the laser‐generated plasma was transported through magnetic bottle fields. Radio‐frequency discharge was added to the laser ion source, further ionizing the primary laser plasma. In this case, the total peak current increased from 0.46 to 1.4 mA. It is suggested that the laser plasma can be used in an electron cyclotron resonance source to produce ions of solid elements. |
