Scanning tunneling microscope surface imaging and etching of single crystals of the high-temperature superconductor Tl2Ba2CuO6+δ

We have studied the surface morphology of single-crystal bulk superconductors in the Tl-Ca-Ba-Cu-O system by scanning tunneling microscopy, observing surface etching phenomena in air at room temperature, including the formation of lines and pits.
