Zusammenfassung:To the Editor: The case record in the December 10 issue describing intermittent hypercalcemia in a patient with sarcoidosis 1 was interesting. We have just studied a patient in whom severe hypercalcemia developed while there was no peripheral or systemic evidence of sarcoidosis. Measurable levels of both amino-terminal and carboxyl-terminal parathyroid hormone were detectable, although the ultimate cause of the hypercalcemia was sarcoidosis. The patient was a 71-year-old black woman who was admitted with chief complaints of weakness, inability to stand, and loss of appetite. Five and a half years earlier, she had had the onset of an erythematous maculopapular rash . . .
