Zusammenfassung: | Aim:
The aims of the project were to set up an electronic multidisciplinary mailing list for skull base surgeons and audit the traffic from November 2000 to 2005.
Method:
The electronic mailing list was set up in collaboration with the National Academic Mailing List Service, the United Kingdom. Only medical professionals were accepted for membership to the mailing list. Membership to the mailing list is free of charge. To audit the activities of the mailing list, we analyzed the data from the archive of the mailing list.
Results:
Currently the mailing list has 62 members, from 20 countries. There have been 127 posts in the mailing list over a period of 60 months with an average of 2 posts per month. Nine clinical topics were discussed in the mailing list.
Conclusion:
We were successful in creating in an international electronic mailing list for skull base surgeons. The skull base mailing list provides a means for sharing knowledge and transfering expertise among skull base surgeons. |
