The Application of Multicomponent Ugi and Passerini Reactions for the One-Pot Synthesis of Pyrrolones and Butenolides

Abstract A new protocol for the one-pot synthesis of pyrrolones and butenolides involving an isocyanide-based multicomponent reaction (Ugi or Passerini) followed by a triethylamine-promoted cycloisomerization is described.
