Zusammenfassung: | Children with total body involvement cerebral palsy present a challenging problem for the orthopaedic surgeon. Treatment must be undertaken in conjunction with other healthcare professionals in a multidisciplinary setting, and is aimed at improving the quality of life of the patient and their family. This article provides an overview of the natural history of the disease, and of the treatment involved in non-operative and surgical management of these patients. Particular emphasis is placed on the decision-making process. The management of the hip and spine are highlighted. |
