) to synthesize fluorescent carbon nanoparticles (FCNPs). The unique FCNPs, which emit bluish violet light under UV light, have a diameter of less than 10 nm and a high quantum yield of 18.4%. Moreover, the FCNPs without further treatments show excellent thermosensitivity, excitation-dependent multicolor emission, high solubility in water, and superior photostability. This facile, economical and convenient route is expected to inspire more research into the origin and applications of FCNPs, as well as delivering FCNP-based materials. |
