Agonistic and Antagonistic Properties of Diastereoisomers in a New Central Analgesic

VIMINOL, or 1-[α-(N-o-chlorobenzyl)-pyrryl]-2-di- sec -butylarnine ethanol p -hydroxybenzoate, has been identified as a centrally acting analgesic out of a large series of pyrrole derivatives 1 . The analgesic activity of the compound, studied as the race-mate, has been established by appropriate pharmacological methods and found to be independent from anti-inflammatory properties 2 . The animals treated with viminol show an obvious Straub phenomenon and after repeated parenteral administration they exhibit cross tolerance to morphine.
