Survival of Chromaffin Cells in Organ Culture of the Adrenal Medulla

AUTOGRAFTS of the adrenal medulla are known to survive for weeks in the anterior chamber of the eye, retaining their cytological properties and catecholamine content 1,2 . On the other hand ,few attempts have been made to cultivate adrenal medullary tissue in vitro 3,4 . Experiments carried out in our laboratory led to the development of a simple technique by which it is possible to keep adrenal medullary cells alive in culture for several weeks.
