Zusammenfassung:THE spleen is a highly radiosensitive organ showing an early and pronounced decrease in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) synthesis and extensive involution following relatively low doses of ionizing radiation 1–3 . Although its role in modifying the radiation response of the animal is not completely understood, it has been shown to play an important part in the immunological 4 and hæmopoietic 5 mechanisms of mammals.
