Zusammenfassung:IT has been known for many years that the oocytes of most mosquitoes do not develop beyond the resting stage without the mosquito taking a blood meal 1 , and two types of yolk particles (macrospheres and microspheres) have been recognized in the developing oocyte 2,3 . More recently the larger yolk particles (macrospheres) have been shown by histochemical methods to be protein and carbohydrate positive and the smaller (microspheres) contain lipids 4 .
