Zusammenfassung: | VEGARD showed in 1917 that, in alkali halides forming mixed crystals, the lattice dimensions lay between those of the pure components, and thus confirmed the theory that in this case atoms of similar kind replace each other in a common lattice. The same view has been adopted later by Bain, Kirchner, Owen and others, who have investigated solid solutions of metals. In all these cases the complex systems have been considered to be formed by a simple substitution. |
