Synthesis, Characterization, and Molecular Structure of Bis{(tert-butyldimethylsilyl)- tetramethylcyclopentadienyl}lead

The reaction of 2 equiv of LiCps [Cps = C5Me4(SiMe2Bu t )] with PbCl2 affords the corresponding metallocene, [Pb(η5-Cps)2], in high yield. A single-crystal X-ray analysis reveals the planar cyclopentadienyl rings to be parallel.
