Reduction of Organotellurium Trichlorides with Sodium Borohydride

Organotellurium trichlorides are efficiently reduced with sodium borohydride. The intermediate organo tellurolates are transformed into diaryl ditellurides, alkyl aryl tellurides, tellurides containing a cyclic ether, and vinylic tellurides.
