Triisopropylcyclotrisiloxanetriol:  An Unprecedented Cyclic Siloxanetriol with Relatively Small Substituents

cis,trans-1,3,5-Trihydroxy-1,3,5-triisopropylcyclotrisiloxane was prepared as the first example of a cyclotrisiloxanetriol stabilized by relatively small substituents. A new synthetic pathway including dearylchlorination and subsequent hydrolysis of each stereoisomer of the cyclotrisiloxanes [Ar(i-Pr)SiO]3 (Ar = Ph, o-CH3C6H4) led to exclusive formation of cis,trans-cyclotrisiloxanetriol in good yield.
