The k/sup 35//k/sup 37/ isotope effect for the ethoxide-promoted elimination of C/sub 6/H/sub 5/C/sup i/H(CH/sub 3/)CH/sub 2/Cl (I-Cl-h) coupled with that for I-Cl-d is evidence for the E2 pathway for the dehydrochlorination reaction. (DLC)
