Zusammenfassung:Considerable differences were found in the size compositions of populations of Asterias rubens off Plymouth. These differences were not correlated with age. Laboratory observations on rate of growth showed that well fed starfishes grow fast during summer and autumn and somewhat slower in winter. Poorly fed starfishes did not increase in size, but were able to survive for long periods with a minimum of food.
