Zusammenfassung:	We connect the generalized Harry Dym type equation with the modified Korteweg–de Vries equation via reciprocal and gauge transformations. This allows us to deduce the N-Bäcklund transformation for the generalized Harry Dym type equation with the aid of the Bäcklund transformation for the modified Korteweg–de Vries equation. As an application, some soliton solutions and their interactions for the generalized Harry Dym type equation are discussed.
