Zusammenfassung:The main objective of the paper is to unveil the operational aspects and various eventualities of solvent-free microwave protocol through a holistic integrated learning approach through the tutelage presented by taking lemongrass oil extraction as a case study. The bibliometric-based critical analysis is also expected to ease the decision-making process for the researchers and help in network building and find out collaborative partners. Plant part, particle size, hydration status, and the dynamic relationship between microwave power and time have been critically reviewed. Threats related to milky emulsion formation, sensitization of oxygenated compounds towards microwave, kinetic modelling for precise simulation and valorization of biomass post-extraction of oil have been vividly explained. The mechanism of action based on synergistic heat and mass transfer has been illustratively presented. Important step by step handy practical procedural assistive tips have been provided to ease out the experimentation job for new researchers.
