Zusammenfassung:[Display omitted] •We propose a new control method based on predictive and semi-active control schemes.•Predictive switching can achieve more effective control than conventional methods.•The proposed method guarantees system stability and low-energy consumption.•The robustness of the proposed method is compared with a conventional method. In this paper, we propose a new control method that integrates model predictive and semi-active control. This control method is referred to as predictive switching based on harmonic input (PSHI). PSHI predicts future states based on two assumptions. The first assumption considers that future control inputs are in a harmonic form, and the second considers that harmonic disturbances causing resonance are applied to a system. Predictive switching can achieve more effective control than conventional methods. The system’s stability and low-energy consumption are guaranteed because PSHI is a semi-active control method. Additionally, the calculation cost is lowered by designing the prediction matrix such that its size is reduced. The beneficial features of PSHI are demonstrated based on simulations and experiments. We also discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the diversity of formulations for integrated MPC and semi-active control.
