Zusammenfassung:[Display omitted] •This work reviews the mechanism and main influencing factors of corrosion in CO2– amine system.•The types of corrosion inhibitors in CO2 - amine trapping system are introduced.•The mechanism of action of the inhibitor was described from the angle of electrochemistry and adsorption.•This review proposes the development direction of corrosion research on CO2-amine capture system. Among the available carbon capture technologies, post-combustion carbon capture based on amine has become a well-proven and efficient means of reducing greenhouse gas emissions on an industrial scale to address global climate issues. However, corrosive behavior inevitably occurs during the trapping process, which could lead to operational problems, shorten the life of the equipment, compromise the production of products, affect economic efficiency, or even threaten human health. In order to present a comprehensive overview of corrosion behavior in the process of CO2 absorption into amines, this paper covers the corrosion mechanisms, measurement techniques, and influencing factors. In addition, topics also cover in detail the corrosion mitigation measures of types of corrosion inhibitors and corrosion mitigation mechanisms. All exhibited information could provide a comprehensive knowledge of corrosion and corrosion inhibition in the carbon capture process and gave a pavement to facilitate further research in solving corrosion issues.
