Zusammenfassung: | •This study reviewed the literature concerning positive contributions among parents of children with ASD.•Twenty six studies were identified as relevant and included in the analysis.•Various conceptualisations and tools are currently used to define and measure the positive impact of raising a child with ASD.•A number of child, parent, family and contextual variables were associated with positive contributions.•Positive contributions among this population warrant further investigation, with recommendations for future research and clinical practice highlighted.
Previous research has suggested that parents can experience positive contributions as a result of raising a child on the autism spectrum. A better understanding of positive contributions among this population can inform clinicians and policymakers and lead to improved outcomes for families.
