Zusammenfassung:A novel method for detecting nickel ions by adsorbing them onto chelating resin and using laser-induced fluorescence was proposed. The chelating resin, YZS70 with high affinity was selected to achieve strong adsorption of nickel ions. The adsorbed nickel ions were excited by a laser to observe their fluorescence signals and to perform analysis. The experimental results showed a rapid, sensitive, and selective nature for efficient detection of nickel ions with high accuracy. This method provides an effective way for accurate detection of nickel ion concentration and has potential to be widely applied for environmental monitoring. •Low concentrations of nickel ions in aqueous solutions were determined using laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy.•The fluorescence intensity of chelating resin YZS70 was enhanced by special functional groups.•The detection limit for nickel ions is below the industrial standards and drinking water standards.•A portable, low-cost, simple and precise device may be developed.
