Zusammenfassung: | In this study, we investigated the tribological performance of two PEEK-based composites reinforced with recycled carbon fibers (rCF) under high-temperature conditions, aiming to provide an environmentally sustainable and cost-effective alternative to existing tribomaterials. The results demonstrate that rCF-reinforced PEEK composites exhibit comparable wear resistance and much better friction performance compared to the commercially available product. More importantly, the substitution of carbon fiber for PTFE in PEEK composites does not deteriorate their tribological performance, which fits well with the proposed restriction of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) from the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), in order to reduce their risks to people and the environment. These findings offer a promising avenue for developing more sustainable and cost-effective tribomaterials. |
