Exploring the influence of silver nanoparticles on the mechanism of fluorescence quenching of coumarin dye using FRET

Zusammenfassung:A study has been undertaken on fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) between microwave assisted silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and biologically active coumarin derivative 2-acetyl-3H-benzo[f]chromen-3-one (2AHBC). The Stern-Volmer plot shows linear nature in steady state and transient state fluorescence quenching. By employing FRET theory, different parameters such as number of binding sites, energy transfer rate, binding distance, association constant and energy efficiency have been determined for fluorescent probe 2AHBC in propanol solvent with AgNPs at room temperature. [Display omitted] •Significant resonance energy transfer is observed between 2AHBC molecule and AgNPs.•Stern-Volmer plots show linear nature in steady state and transient state quenching.•2AHBC and AgNPs are bounded with one binding site.•There is a strong association between 2AHBC molecule and AgNPs.
