Zusammenfassung:Concrete is a strain rate sensitive material, which is widely used in protective structures, and its strain rate effect needs to be considered. This study aims to obtain the real strain rate effect of concrete material. Firstly, the dynamic compression test of concrete was carried out by using split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB). The classical Holmquist-Johnson-Cook (HJC) model of concrete is modified based on the test results and the test data of the static performance of concrete. Then the finite element model is established. The numerical simulation results and theoretical analysis show that the inertia effect leads to the error between the test value and the simulation value. To eliminate the influence of inertia effect, this study embeds the inertia effect term into the constitutive model for secondary modification. According to the results of numerical analysis, the specific form of this term and its related parameters are determined. The modified constitutive model can better predict the test results and reproduce the damage morphology of concrete under impact load. •The strain rate effect of concrete is studied by SHPB test.•The yield surface equation parameters in the constitutive model are modified.•The influence mechanism of inertia effect on concrete is revealed.•A constitutive model of concrete with inertia effect is proposed.
