Zusammenfassung:Spatial distributions and risk assessment of heavy metals (HM) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) in water and sediments of two southwestern Nigeria estuaries (Awoye A1-A6 and Abereke: AB1-AB7 and the adjoining coastal waters: I1–I12, C1–C7) were investigated. The physicochemical characteristics were measured in situ, while the HM and PAH were determined using atomic absorption spectrophotometer and gas chromatography coupled with flame ionization detection. The physicochemical characteristics of the water body were within the World Health Organization and United State Environmental Protection Agency stipulated limits for coastal water, except for pH (
