Zusammenfassung:[Display omitted] •The viscosity and the rheology behavior of the Galactomannan.•The anticorrosion coating epoxy performance with and without the Galactomannan was tested against the acidic medium (1 M HCl) attack.•We determined the different Galactmannan solutions behavior.•The anticorrosion result shows an excellent improvement of the corrosion resistance against the acidic medium attack in the presence of the Galactomannan and it is maintained for a long time. The coating has good corrosion inhibition propriety, but it has some failures. The goal of this research paper is improve the resistance against the corrosion of epoxy coating. Firstly, we study the viscosity and the rheology behaviors of the Galactomannan. Then, the anticorrosion coating epoxy with and without the Galactomannan was tested against carbon steel corrosion in the acidic medium (1 M HCl). The tests are performed by using the electrochemical techniques. The results show that the behavior of Galactomannan solutions change from the Newtonian to non-Newtonian with increasing of concentration. In addition, the transition concentration between two behaviors equals to 2.4 g/L. The study of the corrosion resistance as a function of the time shows that the addition of Galactomannan to the epoxy coating improves the corrosion resistance of carbon steel in an acidic medium for long immersion time.
