Zusammenfassung: | A membrane-based approach for the selective concentration of therapeutic cocosin from coconut milk whey was reported in the present investigation. A high-performance polyether sulfone (PES) based affinity membrane with natural deep eutectic solvent as an adjuvant was prepared and characterized by scanning electron microscopy. It was observed from the images that the addition of NADES has remarkably enhanced the rigidity and porosity of the membrane. The synthesized membrane has better antifouling activity and flux recovery ratio (90.0%) compared to its native counterpart (77.8%). Ultrafiltration of coconut whey isolate with the NADES affinity membrane provides a selective concentration of cocosin (70.0%) in the retentate. Further ultrapurification of cocosin (86%) was attained with anion-exchange chromatography. These results indicate the existence of a viable industrial alternative for the purification of therapeutic cocosin from coconut whey.
